Letter: The Conserves are in a pickle

Sir: I am increasingly irritated by the persistent references of the Conservatives to the party that beat them at Newbury and Christchurch as 'the Liberals'.

Perhaps the Liberal Democrats should start referring to the Conservatives by half only of their name. 'Conserves' has a certain aptness. As a party, they are certainly in a jam.
