LETTER : There is a rhyme, but no reason

Sir: Concerning a rhyme for the word "orange" (Letters, 18 February). This little problem emerges every few years. My old English teacher at school gave us the solution easily enough: "door-hinge." However, it would be difficult to see in just what context one could effectively use both words.
