Sir: No doubt E. K. Townsend Coles (Letters, 23 November) is aware of another fatuous notice on the M40 between London and Oxford: 'Emergency Toilets 20 miles' - of questionable use in such circumstances, being more than 17 minutes away to one travelling at 70mph.
