YOUR editorial on David Blunkett's education policy ("No ability but plenty of aptitude", 9 November) correctly criticises him for saying that he is abolishing selective education while, at the same time, reintroducing it through the back door.

Labour wants a better and fairer education system, but the Government is torn between providing this and paying homage to its business friends. They, of course, have no interest in a better education system for all, and if it is to be provided expect ordinary people to pay for it.

We must demand that MrBlunkett shuns the men in suits and heeds the mood of 1 May.
