Letter: Touching thoughts

Sir: It is now a month since my son Stefan Kiszko died of a heart attack, just three days before Christmas. But I have been overwhelmed by the hundreds of cards and letters of sympathy that continue to arrive daily from all over Britain, and as far as continental Europe.

The letters included several from criminal solicitors who, although not involved in Stefan's case, were deeply touched by his tragedy, and condolences from police officers.

Sadly, I am not well enough to reply to them all, but I would like to thank everyone for their kind words of comfort. Although Stefan was only back at home for 18 months, his release made me the happiest woman in the world.

I would also like to thank my sister, Mrs Alfreda Tosic, for her endless support in my long battle to free Stefan after 16 years in jail for a murder he never committed.

Editor's Note: Stefan Kiszko was released from jail in February 1992, after serving 16 years for the murder of schoolgirl Lesley Molseed. He was freed by the Court of Appeal after forensic evidence proved conclusively he could not have committed the murder.
