IAN Jack compares the popularity of Will Hutton's The State We're In with the Left Book Club editions of the 1930s. There is a difference. The LBC was tied into readers groups and activities all around the country. Mr Hutton, by contrast, lives in north London and merely advises us to wait for Tony Blair to put things right.
