LETTERS: Science holds key to veal debate

From Ms Heather Sharp Sir: Margaret Carey (letter, 16 January) asks, in the current debate regarding veal calves, "what about people?" Farm animals, like the homeless to whom she refers, are forced to exist in the most squalid and inhumane conditions through no fault of their own. The difference is that the homeless have the power of speech and are able to protest about their plight.
