PATRICK Cockburn's description of the hardships of Russian immigrants in Israel's ethnically stratified society was misleading in so far as it implied that they are bottom of the pile ("Russian migrants seek louder voice in Israel", 11 June). The Arab minority suffers the worst racism with lower wages and fewer job opportunities. More than half those living in poverty are Arab even though they comprise 18 per cent of the population.
