Arvo Part and Erkki-Sven Tuur Thur

Two of Eastern Europe's cult composers have works played in a Contemporary Music Network event. Part's Litany and Tuur's Requiem come from the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra.

Marco Polo Tue

Tan Dun conducts the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in the London premiere of his opera. Combining both Western harmonies and Eastern timbres, the piece has a libretto by Paul Griffiths, drawing on medieval sources.

Fiori Musicali Today and tomorrow

Haydn's oratorio The Creation was first performed 200 years ago. The period-instrument orchestra Fiori Musicali gives an anniversary rendition using a "new" text written by Anne Hunter, the wife of Haydn's surgeon.
