Amber Heard has confirmed she'll be joining the DC cinematic universe; she'll play Mera, the Queen of Atlantis, in both Aquaman and Justice League: Part One.

She'll star opposite Games of Thrones star Jason Momoa, cast as Aquaman himself. In the comics, Mera arrived to Earth having fled her own kingdom; she eventually abdicates her throne, marrying Aquaman and becoming Queen of Atlantis.

She revealed the news to Entertainment Tonight, elaborating on plans for her costume for the film; "It's interesting. It's like, half suit of armor, half scales. It's strange... We're in the process of building it now, so it's coming along."

She'll be joining the burgeoning cast of Justice League: Part One which already includes Momoa, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill's Superman, Ben Affleck's Batman, Amy Adams' Lois Lane, Ezra Miller's The Flash, Ray Fisher's Cyborg, and J.K. Simmons' Commissioner Gordon.

Justice League: Part One will hit US theatres 17 November 2017, followed by Aquaman on 27 July 2018.
