Amber Heard ‘super excited’ for Zack Snyder’s Justice League as reshoots finish
Snyder’s version of Justice League is being re-edited into four-part series
Amber Heard has revealed that filming on Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut has just wrapped.
The Aquaman actor, who made her DC debut as Mera in the 2017 Justice League film, will reprise the role for the four-part series coming to HBO Max in 2021.
The extended version came about after director Snyder had to leave the film’s production part-way through, with his previously unseen work now being re-edited as a mini-series more closely aligned with his original vision.
Speaking to ComicBook.com, Heard said that working with Snyder on this project again had been “super exciting”.
“We just wrapped on reshoots and I just love nerds,” she said. “I f***ing love nerds, excuse my language. He’s a perfect example, Zack [Snyder] is a perfect example of a nerd.”
Explaining how she’d got a role on CBS’s The Stand because Josh Boone, another “nerd”, was adapting the Stephen King novel, she continued: “I think it’s just a good rule of thumb to follow, especially in this genre which I love.
“It’s like follow the nerd, the nerd passion is where you want to be.”
In recent weeks, Heard’s place in the DC franchise has been under scrutiny since her ex-husband Johnny Depp lost his libel case.
While a petition calling for Heard to be removed from the forthcoming Aquaman sequel has been signed more than 1.7 million times, the actor has shut down any claims this could happen.
“Paid rumours and paid campaigns on social media don’t dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality,” she said.
“Only the fans actually made Aquaman and Aquaman 2 happen. I’m excited to get started next year.”
