Mark Ruffalo Completely Spoils the Avengers 4 Title and Ending

Mark Ruffalo has been both Marvel's gift and its nightmare.

While beloved for his role as Dr Bruce Banner – and his mean, green alter ego the Hulk – the actor has an awkward history of letting slip fairly major secrets: he spoiled the ending of Avengers: Infinity War a year before it came out, while accidentally live-streaming the first 15 minutes of Thor: Ragnarok at its premiere.

Has Ruffalo struck again? During his latest appearance on The Tonight Show, the actor appeared not only to reveal several key details from Avengers 4, but the film's true title, although the entire audio was bleeped – both on TV and in the live studio.

Clearly, the actor and Marvel Studios had decided to play a small prank on fans, although that hasn't stopped viewers trying to interpret what Ruffalo actually mouthed, with many suggesting the title may be Avengers: Annihilation. The Russo Brothers had previously teased that the title would include two "A"s, after posting a cryptic message to Twitter.

Ruffalo later referenced the incident on Twitter, writing: "I trust that you will cut my spoiler slip on the show tonight. That was “off the record” homey. Please don’t get me in trouble with Marvel (Barry) again. DM me back."

"Dude, it’s too late - already sent the final show to Burbank for air. Are you sure you’re gonna be in trouble? We could maybe bleep it out. What is “DM”?" Fallon replied.
