The recently-announced Halloween reboot will feature one distinct difference that made the later sequels lessen in quality.

Alien: Covenant star Danny McBride, who is co-writing the project alongside David Gordon Green, is intent on making iconic masked antagonist Michael Myers human again.

Speaking on the Empire podcast, McBride revealed how they're intending on making a film as fantastic as John Carpenter's 1979 original and one of the techniques in doing that is to avoid “turning Michael Myers into some supernatural being that couldn't be killed.”

He stated: “[We are going to] strip [Halloween] down and just take it back to what was so good about the original.

“I think it’s much more horrifying to be scared by someone standing in the shadows while you’re taking the trash out as opposed to someone who can’t be killed pursuing you.”

The film - which McBride has stated is not a remake - is being produced by Carpenter and horror heavyweight Jason Blum whose past credits include The Purge and Get Out. You can listen to our podcast with the man himself here.

Carpenter's presence as producer should abate concerned fans with the filmmaker also revealing in a Facebook post that he “...might even do the music.”

Killer Michael Myers returned in a remake directed by Rob Zombie back in 2007.
