Johnson addressed Elba’s casting on Twitter, writing: “He’s a baaaaaad man. Welcoming my dude Idris Elba with tattooed and open arms to our Hobbs And Shaw ... Every hero is only as good as their villain. Cue the music... let’s dance.”
Elba recently appeared on screen in Avengers: Infinity War. The actor also recently directed Yardie and is currently working on the Netflix series Turn Up Charlie, which he created and stars in.
Hobbs and Shaw reaches cinemas 26 July, 2019.
