Animated short In A Heartbeat charms internet

Be warned: the following four-minute clip may induce tears, so perhaps grab those tissues.

On Monday (31 July), a Pixar-style animated short, titled In a Heartbeat, was uploaded online, telling the tale of a teenage boy with a secret crush on a fellow student.

Despite trying to keep his guarded love quiet, Sherwin’s heart literally won’t let him, jumping out of his body and chasing after the other boy.

Soon after finding its way online, the film — from Beth David and Esteban Bravo — went viral, accumulating over 5 million views in two days and receiving a hugely positive reaction, particularly from the LGBT community.

The Human Rights Campaign Tweeted out the Youtube link with the caption: “All. The. Feels. We can all relate to this.” Others have posted fan art about the two characters.

In a Heartbeat, which has no voice acting and only music, was produced at Ringling College of Art and Design, the score composed by Arturo Cardelús.
