Logan rating: Wolverine 3 rated R for 'strong brutal violence, language and brief nudity' according to director

Last week, the second trailer for Logan - AKA Wolverine 3 - was released online, showcasing the film’s graphic nature.

Finally, we have official confirmation that - like Deadpool before - the X-Men spin-off will be R-Rated.

Director James Mangold confirmed the new on Twitter, explaining that the rating was awarded for “strong brutal violence and language throughout, and for brief nudity.”

While not officially confirmed, Mangold said on social media that Logan has been rated 15 in the UK, also the same as Deadpool.

Recently, Hugh Jackman revealed Logan will be on a somewhat different timeline to the other X-Men films, but not entirely different.

"When you see the full movie you'll understand,” he said. “Not only is it different in terms of timeline and tone, it's a slightly different universe. It's actually a different paradigm and that will become clear.”

In other Logan related news, The Independent recently saw the first 40-minutes of the film, concluding the “new footage proves final Wolverine film really earns its R-rating.”

Logan hits UK cinemas 1 March.
