SAG Awards 2019: celebrities wish a 'Happy 25th Anniversary' to the Screen Actors Guild Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards are almost upon us, with some of the biggest stars in film and TV vying for trophies.

Will & Grace star Megan Mullally will host the event, which will take place in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall.

So, what time does it all start? Who are the nominees, and what is the best way to watch the ceremony?

Here is everything you need to know to follow the 2019 SAG Awards:

What time do the SAG Awards start?

The SAG Awards ceremony will kick off on Sunday, 27 January at 8pm ET / 5pm PT / 1am GMT.

Red carpet coverage will begin ahead of the ceremony, at 5.30pm ET / 2.30pm PT / 10.30 pm GMT.

After the event wraps up, an encore presentation will air from 11pm ET / 8pm PT / 4am GMT.

How can I watch the SAG Awards?

In the US, the ceremony will air on TBS and TNT simultaneously, so viewers can pick one of the two networks.

TBS and TNT subscribers can also watch the ceremony online through the appropriate app and mobile devices.

Internationally, the SAG Awards will air through various broadcasters, a full list of which you can see here.

Unfortunately, it looks like the ceremony will not be broadcast on television in the UK. However, several streams will be available for red carpet coverage, including on the SAG Awards' website.

What can I expect during the ceremony?

"Nothing political," host Mullally told The Hollywood Reporter.

"I don't think any of the humor will be snarky, like how the Golden Globes used to get super snarky," she added. "I really do love actors and talent."

Mullally placed an emphasis on acceptance speeches as one of the determining factors of the ceremony's success, referring to "heartfelt" addresses given in the past at the SAG Awards.
