Spider-Man Homecoming: Marvel and Sony's superhero film finally has a title while new clip hints at Iron Man cameo

The name was revealed at Cinema-Con

First, there was Spider-Man. Then there was The Amazing Spider-Man. And now there’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, the upcoming Marvel Studios/Sony film that sees Tom Holland in the spandex suit.

Speaking at Cinema-Con, Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman noted how the title has a double meaning, both referring to the film’s titular high-school-student and how Peter Parker “is trying to find his way home”.

Holland was also on stage to say “I’m Tom Holland and I’m your new Spider-Man,” also revealing how the film will focus on Parker searching for his identity. Rothman added how Spidey will have to balance "saving the world and getting your algebra homework done at the same time.”

It was previously rumoured the film would be titled Spider-Man: Homecoming when Sony registered a new domain name earlier in the month.

Interestingly, a clip of Robert Downey Jnr meeting Marisa Tomei, who play Iron Man and Aunt May respectively, was shown. According to reports, Aunt May is seated on a sofa while Tony Stark - with a black eye - offers the high-schooler a job.

It is unclear whether the clip also features in the forthcoming Captain America: Civil War, a film Spider-Man is set to play an integral part in.

Meanwhile, early reviews for Civil War have been very positive, with Marvel releasing two clips early, including one of Team Cap hunting Crossbones and the other introducing Ant-Man to the team.
