Alden Ehrenreich has revealed how many films he's expecting to star as Han Solo in.

The actor, who'll make his debut as a younger incarnation of the Harrison Ford character in Star Wars prequel Solo next month, let the cat out the bag in a brand new interview with Esquire stating he signed up to appear in three films.

“I don’t know if that’s officially, uh, public,” he said. “But, yeah.”

Solo has been plagued with something of a troubled shoot which reached a peak following the firing of original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Ehrenreich shed some light on the events, branding reports that people applauded Disney's decision as “bullshit.”

He added: “For a crew to do that would mean they hated [Lord and Miller], which was not by any stretch the case.“

“From the first screen test on, we played around with it a lot. We tried a lot of different things, rethinking behind the scenes. That was yielding a different movie than the other factions wanted. I knew what I was doing, but in terms of what that adds up to, you’re so in the dark as an actor. You don’t know what it’s shaping up to be, how they’re editing it, so it’s kind of impossible without having seen those things to know what the difference [of opinion] was, or exactly what created those differences.”

He levelled that the introduction of Ron Howard was a tough development considering he'd been working with Lord and Miller to establish his character's direction, but that his demeanour immediately helped cast doubts aside.

“Everybody’s hackles are raised a bit, and Ron had this ability to come in and deal with morale and get everybody enthusiastic about, A, what we’d already shot, because I think his feeling was that a lot of what we’d already done was really good, and, B, the direction for the next piece of it,” Ehrenreich said. “He knew how to navigate a tricky situation, and almost from the first or second day everybody pretty quickly recharged and got excited again about the movie.”

Solo will show a young version of Han meet his future co-pilot Chewbacca as well the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover). The film will also star Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson and Westworld star Thandie Newton.

Disney and Lucasfilm are yet to comment on Ehrenreich's comments. Solo: A Star Wars Story will be released nationwide on 25 May following its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
