An unlikely success story is recounted in Stephen C Mitchell's patchwork rockumentary.

Raised in poverty by strict Pentecostal parents in Oklahoma and Tennessee, the Followill boys, Nathan, Caleb, Jared and Matthew, somehow became enthroned as Kings of Leon, one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Almost as interesting as their rise to fame is the rackety welcome they get on returning home to Talihina, where most of the locals seem to be related to them. (One of their cousins, a garrulous, hard-drinking oldster, looks like a relic from Deliverance). Not in the same league as Anvil! The Story of Anvil – the new gold standard of hard luck/rock stories – but there's fascinating stuff on backwoods America.
