The UK-based dreamteam that is Flamingods have just unveiled their new video for "Anya" - produced by Shooting Gallery - which you can watch first on The Independent.

Formed in Bahrain in 2009, Flamingods is comprised of Kamal Rasool, Charles Prest, Sam Rowe and Karthik Poduval.

"Anya", as the band explain, was inspired by the exotica movement of the 50s, and the visual accompaniment is an extension of that: filmed in the Mossèn Costa i Llobera botanical garden in Barcelona.

Check out the video and read our Q&A with the band below:

Tell us a bit about this new video, how did it come about?

The video was directed and produced by Barcelona based production house Shooting Gallery [ http://www.shootinggallery.es/ ] and sprouted from a trip to Barcelona last summer where we were set to play BAM Festival.

'Anya' as a track was deeply inspired by the exotica movement of the 50s and the imagery that surrounds it so we decided to film the music video at the Mossèn Costa i Llobera Gardens; a beautiful botanical space which houses an array of tropical cacti and plants.

The environment was perfectly apt for the song and the weather was wonderfully hot with the sun beaming out full force through-out the filming. The idea was to get us performing in the gardens whilst being flocked by pair of flamingos performing a mating dance and alluring us into the exotic through a mirage of hypnotic movements.

The beautiful tones and colours were captured with special aerochrome filter lens the team picked up from their travels and gives the video an almost tropical noir feel.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Snapped Ankles new album is blowing our minds at the moment, as is The Comet is Coming's recent EP and all things Alabaster Deplume! Lots of cool stuff coming out of London at the moment, specifically out of the Total Refreshment Centre crew.

What are your plans for the rest of 2017?

We'll be slowing down the touring and starting our writing sessions for our next album - although we do have some exciting international touring ahead first with dates in Reykjavik, Porto, Rennes, Brittany and Moscow! Next on the agenda though is our final UK headline show of the year in Camden on 3 October at Jazz Cafe - we've got a ton of exciting stuff planned for that one!

What was the first gig you ever played and what’s been the best so far?

First gig we ever played was at Paper Dress Vintage in Hackney back in 2009. We've been fortunate this year to get to travel to loads of far flung destinations like the Azores and Austin, Texas and i'd say the best is just getting to experience all these different cultures and people. Best part of the job!
