DaBaby earned praise for his choice of backup singer-dancers during his performance at the 2021 Grammys.

Performing “ROCKSTAR” during the ceremony with Roddy Ricch, DaBaby was joined by a crew of grey-haired backup dancers wearing what appeared to be judge costumes.

“I’m sure someone is already on this but the backup singers in @DaBabyDaBaby performance NEED TO BE MEMES. cmon internet don’t disappoint!,” wrote a viewer.

“I didn’t know the Supreme Court got invited to the Grammys this year,” wrote another.

“The dramatic grandma choir behind DaBaby I—”, wrote another.

Host Trevor Noah also got a kick out of DaBaby’s choice of backing singers, calling them “DaBaby Boomers”.

Speaking to the Associated Press about his Blame It On Baby track, which had some additional verses at the Grammys, DaBaby said his new “ROCKSTAR” words were “going to touch everybody”.

Prior to his set, he opened up a bit more to the AP about his coming socially distanced performance: “At the end of the day, we still have the ability to express ourselves through camera. So it’s no different than like a music video.”

Later, the rapper also joined performer Dua Lipa for her rendition of “Levitating” during the show.
