Have JLS released new drill song on Spotify? Pop band clear up confusion after music streaming mistake

JLS have cleared up the confusion surrounding the release of a new drill song on their music channels.

On Thursday (18 February), the band’s official Spotify and Apple Music pages added a track called “Time”, which seemingly showcased a new sound for the pop stars behind hits such as “Everybody in Love”.

The song, which features lyrics including caused widespread confusion with many actually believing the band were trying out a different music style.

However, it turns out the uploading was a mistake – the song is actually called “Look” and it’s by Switch AND J9. It’s no longer on JLS’ music channels.

Acknowledging the error after days of confusion, JLS wrote on Twitter on Saturday (20 February): “Sick track, but we can confirm it’s not one of ours.”

The band added: “You’ll be the first to know when we’ve got new music coming…”

Drill is a style of trap music that originated in the South Side of Chicago in early 2010.

The actual song by Switch and J9 has now amassed tens of thousands of listens on YouTube, with J9 seeing the funny side on social media.

The Independent has contacted Spotify and Apple Music for comment.
