(John Lewis?)

The music industry may have been sworn to secrecy over who will be singing this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert jingle, but that hasn’t stopped the artists name reportedly leaking.

Scandinavian artist Aurora, who has yet to release an album, will cover Oasis’s "Half the World Away" for the much-hyped ad, which will debut on Friday 6 November.

According to a Sun insider: “even though Aurora is a complete unknown, they felt her quirky voice is perfect for the song”. The source also said Steve Winwood’s Higher Love was considered.

The 19-year-old singer released her EP Running With The Wolves earlier this year, and will support Of Mice and Men on tour this month.

For the last six years, each song performed for the department store’s adverts has been released as a single, starting in 2009 when Taken by Trees’ covered “Sweet Child o’ Mine”.

Last year, Tom Odell had the honour of covering the Beatles’ “Real Love”, reaching no 7 in the charts. In both 2012 and 2013, the John Lewis song made it to number one with Gabrielle Aplin’s “The Power of Love” and Lily Allen’s “Somewhere Only We Know”.
