Patrick Doyle dead: Veronica Falls drummer dies aged 32
Tributes are being paid to 'a dear son, brother, uncle and friend'
Patrick Doyle, the Veronica Falls drummer and singer-songwriter behind Boys Forever, has died aged 32.
Following early reports of the artist’s death, the Boys Forever Facebook account confirmed the news, posting a statement which said “he was a dear son, brother, uncle and friend, and we loved him dearly”.
Doyle was a founding member of the London band Veronica Falls, who released their self-titled debut album in 2011 and then 2013’s Waiting For Something to Happen, the band’s last studio LP to date.
The cause of his death has not yet been revealed. Tributes to Doyle, who also played in the Royal We, Sexy Kids and under the alias Basic Plumbing, were posted on social media.
Doyle’s Veronica Falls bandmate Marion Herbain wrote on Instagram, “Everything hurts and it’s been hard finding the right words while dealing with feelings ranging from complete heartbreak to remorse.
“It hasn’t fully sunk in yet, but I’m glad I got to spend some of the best years of my life by your side, as a bandmate and a friend. RIP, P. dogg.”
Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos tweeted, “I am heartbroken by the news of the death of my friend, Patrick Doyle. Smart, funny, a great musician.... I can’t sum up his life on here. I will miss him.”
Fans who wish to pay tribute to Doyle have been asked to donate to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, “who were an invaluable support for Patrick”.
