Tekashi 6ix9ine has unveiled his first new music since being released from prison.

The rapper unveiled the track, titled “Gooba”, on Friday along with a music video.

“Why ya think ya can compete with me? And I ratted stoopid STILL the king you mad,” he later wrote next to a screenshot of an Instagram live video watched by two million viewers.

“Gooba” is 6ix9ine’s first release in almost two years. It came out on the same day the rapper turned 24 years old.

The accompanying music video shows what appears to be his ankle monitor. 6ix9ine remains under home confinement.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was sentenced in December 2019 to two years in prison.

He had previously pleaded guilty to federal charges accusing him of joining the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang.

His cooperation as a witness for the prosecution earned him leniency during sentencing. US District Judge Paul A Engelmayer called his testimony “impressive” and “game-changing”.

Hernandez was released early from custody last month due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Engelmayer cited Hernandez’s asthma, which makes him more vulnerable to Covid-19, as a factor in his decision.

Without the compassionate release, Hernandez was scheduled to walk free on 31 July.

In April, Engelmayer granted him permission to conduct “employment-related activities” from his backyard for two hours a week.
