Album: Garbage, Not Your Kind of People (Stun Volume)
Garbage have always been prime sci-fi enthusiasts, so it's apt this comeback album suggests a hiatus spent in a cryogenic freezer.
Which is to say that they sound the same, from Shirley Manson's robot-grrrl insouciance to the grunge-pop guitar-churn and foot-stompy lyrics, only rather less vital. And, up until the supremely sultry "I Hate Love", what washes for late-1990s nostalgists such as this reviewer may seem a turgid anachronism to others.
