We should all be so lucky to spend winter under the duvet of a Bon Iver co-production.
But Edwards deserves her good fortune. She's talented, with a fine ear for a plaintive, uncomplicated melody to support her plaintive, sometimes complicated themes. And if the check-shirted country manoeuvres of earlier days have given way to a thicker, softer, more structured indie-rock vibe, then it can only be said that it suits her songs. Soft and pretty, but in a good way.
