Album: Mariah Carey, E=MC2 (Def Jam)

With her trademark trills and mirror-shattering birdsong, you could almost believe nothing's changed in Mariah's world. But the days when she was a top-ranking superstar are in the past.

The calibre of guest stars involved in 'E=MC2' has slipped too: the biggest is Damian Marley. The deceptively sweet single "Touch My Body" masks a S&M storyline in which she threatens to "hunt you down" with one breath, then demands that you "throw me on the bed" with the next. To find much more of interest on 'E=MC2' would require a subatomic examination which Einstein himself would find taxing.
