Scissor Sisters burst on to the scene as the biggest, best queer-straight disco party on earth, an all-inclusive gathering of a global Rainbow Nation.

But every party, by definition, has to end, and in recent years it's felt as though Scissor Sisters were on a dangerous downward spiral towards irrelevance.

But the knack of writing a great dance-pop hook hasn't left Jake Shears and Babydaddy overnight. "Baby Come Home" is exuberant 1970s pop, while "Shady Love" (featuring Azealia Banks) is a dancefloor bootyshaker. Magic Hour's credits also include Calvin Harris, Diplo, Joan as Policewoman, Stuart Price and Pharrell, whose superb "Inevitable" sounds as if it's channelling the late Robin Gibb. With a little luck, and the careful choice of singles, there might be life in this party yet.
