The Levellers celebrated their tenth anniversary in October by releasing One Way of Life - The Best of The Levellers album containing nine Top-20 singles, and embarked on a 30-date UK tour. It comes to a close tonight at the Brixton Academy with a show full of all their best songs. By ploughing their own folk-punk path, The Levellers (right) have often been wrongly dismissed as crusty hippies, but their fanbase is far wider than that. A typical Levellers gig is a night packed with honest entertainment and a surprising number of clubland-influenced twists. Forget the preconceptions and enforced stereotypes, this is simply music to dance and drink (lots) to.
Brixton Academy, London SW9 (0171-771 2000) tonight
