A Dark River

Young Vic Studio, London SE1

(0171-928 6363)

Volcanic emotions spill over into the frigid arena of a 1990s London law firm in The Big Picture Company's adaptation of Lorca's Blood Wedding. Using Kathak dance and flamenco, and film projections of lush natural landscapes, the play's visceral essence is released. Juxtaposing Lorca's torrid flow with the embarrassed musings of ambitious twentysomethings is sometimes problematic but the overall impression is at once stylish and captivating.
