It’s the first ever Batter Week on The Great British Bake Off and the last on the BBC. News that the Bake Off is moving to Channel 4 has devastated fans, with judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood also expected to leave following the departure of hosts Mel and Sue.

Meanwhile in the tent, this year’s bakers will be showing off their Yorkshire Pudding-making skills. But who will be bidding us farewell and who will be crowned star baker?

This year’s bakers include 23-year-old teaching assistant Benjamina, former headteacher Val and the bookies favourite, chilled-out client service associate Selasi.

Officially one of the UK's biggest TV shows, the first episode of the new series attracted a staggering 11.2 million viewers - almost half the UK TV watching audience and a whole million more than last year’s opener.

The Great British Bake Off airs on Wednesdays at 8pm on BBC One
