Dracula, beware; Netflix has renewed Castlevania for a third season.

The animated series – adapted from the iconic video-game series of the same name – has received positive reviews across the board, the second series only recently (26 October) debuting on the streaming service.

Eternal vampire Vlad Dracula Țepeș confirmed the third season on Twitter, writing: “Your response to season 2 truly brings a bloody tear to this ancient vampire’s eye. On this All Hallows’ Eve, it’s my honour to officially announce season 3! Without you, this never could have happened!”

Best-selling author and comic-book icon Warren Ellis will return to write the series, which features voice work from Richard Armitage, James Callis and Graham McTavish.

Showrunner Adi Shankar – who recently entered talks with Netflix to develop a Legend of Zelda series – took to Twitter to express excitement over the renewal. ”This is a dream come true,” he wrote. “I’m so happy. Lots of love to go around.”

Castlevania follows Trevor Belmont (Armitage) as he tries to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe (Graham McTavish, Dwalin in The Hobbit). The first episodes were initially based on the popular video-game Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse.
