Chelsea Handler calls out Piers Morgan in resurfaced video: ‘Some a**holes stay the same’

Reese Witherspoon and Dax Shepard have supported Handler in her criticism of the ex-GMB host

Chelsea Handler has called out Piers Morgan by recirculating a heated interview she had with the presenter in 2014.

Handler’s comments come in the wake of Morgan’s departure from Good Morning Britain, which was announced by ITV on Tuesday night (9 March).

The decision came after the presenter attracted widespread criticism over his comments about Meghan Markle. 

Handler accompanied the post, which has received praise from celebrities including Reese Witherspoon and Natalie Portman, with the caption: “Some a**holes get better, some just stay the same.”

In the video, Handler criticised Morgan for checking his phone during the show’s ad break, stating: “I want viewers to know — I mean, they must know because they’re probably following you on Twitter — I mean, you can’t even pay attention for 60 seconds. You’re a terrible interviewer.”

Morgan replied: “Well, you just weren’t keeping my attention. That’s more an issue for you than me.”

“That’s not my problem. This is your show. You have to pay attention to the guest that you invited on your show,” she responded.

The interaction closes with Handler stating: “Maybe that’s why your job is coming to an end”, referring to CNN’s announcement a month earlier that Morgan’s show Piers Morgan Live was due to be cancelled by the network.

Responding to Morgan’s question about which one moment in Handler’s life she would relive if given the opportunity, the comedian said: “It would be spending this hour differently.

A number of celebrities have rallied behind Handler in the comments of her Instagram post, including Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman, Dax Shepherd, Kristen Bell and January Jones.

Witherspoon wrote: “Exactly!”, while Kristen Bell said: “There are not enough eggplant emojis in the world to describe how much I love this post.”

Dax Shephard also took to the comments, writing: “You’ve lived out my Bill O’Reilly fantasy.”

Handler is one of many celebrities to celebrate Morgan’s exit fromGMB. Meanwhile, Sharon Osbourne has defended Morgan during Wednesday’s episode of The Talk.
