Four Weddings and a Funeral – and now a resurrection, as the American streaming service Hulu are remaking the classic Richard Curtis film

Andie MacDowell, who played Carrie in the original, returns for the series as a guest star, playing a brand new character called Mrs Howard.

Game Of Thrones actor Nathalie Emmanuel will lead the comedy series – written by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton – taking over from the initially cast Jessica Williams.

Deadline also reports that Brandon Mychal Smith (You’re the Worst), Zoe Boyle (Frontier), Jennie Jacques (Vikings), Harish Patel (Run Fatboy Run), and Guz Khan (Finding Fatima) have joined Nikesh Patel, Rebecca Rittenhouse and John Reynolds in the cast.

The series will follow four American friends – Maya (Emmanuel), Craig (Smith), Ainsley (Rittenhouse) and Duffy (Reynolds) – who reunite for a London wedding. However, something disastrous happens at the alter and their lives are thrown into turmoil, with a year of relationships and heartbreak following.

MacDowell plays the mother of Reynolds’s character Duffy in a nod to the source film, which originally starred herself and Hugh Grant in leading roles.
