Game of Thrones season 6: Sophie Turner on Sansa Stark: 'She really commands the respect she deserves'

She added: 'It’s the biggest season yet'

To say Sansa Stark had it rough last season of Game of Thrones puts it extremely lightly; her marriage to Ramsey Bolton was abusive, sadistic and beyond what most people felt comfortable watching on TV.

Thankfully, things are looking much better for Sansa in season six, with actress Sophie Turner claiming it will be her character’s best yet.

“I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s probably her best season yet. It’s her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good.

“It was amazing because the past five seasons, it feels like it’s been building up and up to that. You can only suffer so much before she finally gets her, the respect that she deserves.”

One of the greatest things about Game of Thrones is its ability to throw in twists and turns no-one expects; season six will be no different.

“I mean this season there’s like so many shocks, it’s massive. It’s the biggest season yet. And just like in terms of character development, so many people’s storylines, I’m so excited for. I’m so excited to see Alfie’s one this season. It’s going to be good.”

Last time we saw Sansa and Alfie Allen's character Theon Greyjoy they had just escaped Ramsey by jumping off the walls of Winterfell. What happens to them later on is unknown.

In other Game of Thrones news, Kit Harrington recently spoke about the fate of his character Jon Snow, as did Maisie Williams.

Game of Thrones season six is expected to land on HBO on the 24 April.
