Glee cast reunite for virtual coronavirus fundraiser

The cast of Glee staged a virtual reunion to raise money for victims of the coronavirus pandemic.

Some five years after the musical comedy series reached its end, the members of William McKinley High School’s glee club came together for a live episode of the YouTube series Stars in the House on Tuesday.

In the episode, Darren Criss, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, Kevin McHale and Jenna Ushkowitz discussed their experiences on the hit Fox series and how they are staying busy during coronavirus lockdown.

Meanwhile, Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch, who played Will Schuester and Sue Sylvester, represented the fictional school's teaching staff.

Hosted by Seth Rudetsky and Jame Wesley, the fundraiser benefits The Actors Fund’s Covid-19 fundraiser, which offers emergency financial support to people working in the entertainment industry.

Glee ran for six seasons from 2010 to 2015 and centred on the members of a high school show choir, integrating performances of contemporary pop songs and musical theatre numbers into each episode.

Lea Michele and Cory Monteith starred as the glee club’s romantic leads Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson. Monteith tragically died of an overdose in 2013, following struggles with drug and alcohol addiction.

His death was paid tribute to by Glee in an episode titled “The Quarterback”, which focussed on the passing of his character.
