Everyone is excited to see Breaking Bad’s Krysten Ritter in her new role as Marvel heroine Jessica Jones, but the first proper glimpse at David Tennant as The Purple Man suggests we can expect a terrifying performance.

Netflix has already dropped several teasers and a creepy trailer to crank up the hype for its upcoming original but so far, fans have seen little of the villain.

The ominous character, full name Dr Zebediah Killgrave, has been kept quite literally in the shadows, but a new image shows him standing in front of a microphone on a stage appropriately bathed in purple light.

Expect Killgrave to wreak a ton of psychological havoc with his bizarre mind control powers, as Jones prepares to battle her tormentor once again and prevent him from harming anyone else.

Netflix released the first clip last week, showing Kilgrave knowing on someone’s door and serving up the menacing line, “You’d like to invite me in”.

The full official synopsis reads like this: “Ever since her short-lived stint as a superhero ended in tragedy, Jessica Jones has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell's Kitchen, New York City.

“Plagued by self-loathing and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need. Especially if they're willing to cut her a check.”

Fans can catch Jessica Jones on Netflix from 20 November, when all 13 episodes go live on the streaming service.
