Saturday Night Live turns Trump into Tony Soprano alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro

The sketch was accompanied by Journey's 'Dont's Stop Believin'', as De Niro stepped in to play Mueller

Saturday Night Live's season finale took a dose of inspiration from one of television's greatest: The Sopranos.

The close of the comedy's 43rd season saw a cold open sketch which sees Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump in a restaurant booth, joined by some of his closest confidantes: Kate McKinnon’s Rudy Giuliani, Ben Stiller’s Michael Cohen, and Mikey Day as Donald Trump Jr.

Alex Moffat's Eric Trump, unfortunately, is unable to join the table as he's still stuck outside trying to parallel park his tricycle.

Set to Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'", to properly evoke The Sopranos moment, Baldwin's Trump takes the opportunity to thank those in his inner circle. “You’re the best and last client I’ll ever have," McKinnon's Giuliani replies.

Stiller's Cohen remarks most of his day was spent "preparing to go to jail and stuff," to which Trump replies: "I’ve heard jail’s fun. It’s just like camp. Plus, there’s a free gym. Dude, you’re going to get so jacked.”

Their meal is then interrupted by the entrance of Robert De Niro's Robert Mueller, who overhears Giuliani's suggestion that Trump fake his own death. After Mueller gives Trump the "I'm watching you" sign, the screen cuts to black.

The show, hosted by former cast member Tina Fey, also took aim at the royal wedding: Prince Harry (Mikey Day) offers a tour of the reception, coming across Meghan Markle's great-uncle urging the Queen to watch The Crown.
