Homer and Marge Simpson channeled for Strictly Come Dancing

The second celebrity to be voted off this year’s Strictly Come Dancing has been revealed.

After a surprise dance-off with Nicola Adams, former American football player Jason Bell came crashing out of the BBC competition series.

Smith and professional dance partner Luba Mushtuk were named as the couple who had the lowest number of combined judges' scores and viewer votes after performing to the Star Wars theme on movie week.

After taking on former boxing pro Adams and her professional dance partner Katya Jones in the dance-off, judges Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse opted to send Bell home.

Shirley Ballas did not have to cast her vote, but said she would also have saved Adams and Jones.

Speaking about his time on the show, Bell, a Californian, said: “It was an opportunity of a lifetime. I had so much fun, thank you Luba. You have worked so hard with me, you’re a great friend for life and I appreciate all that you’ve done, I really do.

"I’ve had such a good time here. Everybody is wonderful. I mean really this is amazing – this is a brilliant place! This is the best group of people ever, this is amazing.”

The Wanted singer Max George and Dianne Buswell are safe for another week despite "horrifying" viewers after dancing to The Simpsons theme tune in character as Homer and Marge.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on 14 November at 7.10pm.
