The Voice judge Ricky Wilson attacks Simon Cowell and The X-Factor

'We’re not trying to make a flash in a pan, we’re trying to make a star who burns for a very long time'

The X-Factor's apparent invincibility is irritating a lot of people, including fellow talent judge Ricky Wilson who appears on the soon-to-be ITV show The Voice.

The Kaiser Chiefs frontman said the careers of X-Factor contestents "will be short-lived" — inmplying that's not also true for singers on his own show.

Speaking to The Sun, Wilson expressed confusion over ITV's "weird" decision to broadcast both The Voice and The X-Factor, although he also said "they are two very different shows" without justifying how.

He said: "We've found hundreds of stars but just because we can't finish a show, wrap them in a bow and give them a number one, it's not a problem because if you are doing that their careers will be very short-lived.

"We’re not trying to make a flash in a pan, we’re trying to make a star who burns for a very long time. A flash in the pan burns brightly and then disappears very quickly.

"I think it’ll be odd now the show is going to ITV because what queue do you join? I think people will know whether they are going to follow the big X or the big V because they are two very different shows."

Simon Cowell isn't worried about the intra-channel competition, recently saying: "Have you watched [The Voice]? I have so I'm not worried."

Wilson also announced this will be his final year trading barbs with other reality TV shows since he plans on quitting The Voice once it leaves the BBC.
