The show where everything's made up and the points don't matter is returning to American television screens for the first time in almost a decade.

Whose Line Is It Anyway?, based on the British series of the same name, ran for eight series from 1998 to 2005.

Previously hosted by Drew Carey on ABC, the revived version will be fronted by chat show host Aisha Tyler and be broadcast by The CW network.

As the show is carried by the improvisational skills of its contestants several of the original line-up is set to return for the revived series. Among them are Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie.

Whose Line Is It Anyway? was originally devised for BBC Radio 4 in 1988 but was later adapted for television and broadcast on Channel 4 for ten series with Clive Anderson as host.
