Nadine joined The Independent in 2021 as Race Correspondent – the only such title at a UK news outlet – and reports on stories around Black, Asian and minority communities. One of Britain’s leading Black journalists, Nadine’s exclusive stories have covered racism during the Ukraine war, use of slurs in official UK government documents and Jamaica’s plans to become a republic. With over ten years of news industry experience, Nadine previously led HuffPost UK’s news coverage of race, after working as a writer and editor at The Voice – Britain’s longest-running Black newspaper. She has won numerous prizes including Forbes 30 Under 30 and Paulette Wilson Windrush Award for her stellar reporting on the Windrush scandal in 2020. She’s also the first Black reporter to be shortlisted for the prestigious Paul Foot Award.
