What have you been buying this month? If you’re anything like our IndyBest readers, the answer is a lot of gifts.

March saw both Mother’s Day and the start of Easter preparations, which means we’ve seen sales of items like bouquets and chocolate treats soar in recent weeks.

It looks like a lot of us are also beginning the process of refreshing our homes for spring – in particular the bedroom, with mattresses and pillows in high demand, and luxe silk pillowcases jumping up the list too.

But in addition to classic seasonal investments like lightweight linen bedding or a new duvet, we’ve also getting inspiration for more trend-led items from the likes of Twitter and TikTok: enter, aesthetically pleasing sunset projection lamps and arrangements of dried flowers.

We’re looking outdoors as well as in: searches for garden furniture are steadily rising, with everything from pressure washers to chimeneas to hot tubs on our reader’s radars already thanks to the unexpected bursts of warm weather we’ve been experiencing.

Whether you’re looking for inspiration for the month ahead, or just like to be nosy about what people bought in the month just gone, here are some of the most popular items on IndyBest for March 2021.

Emma original mattress: From £429, Emmamattress.com

(Emma)

For the second month in a row, Emma’s bestselling line of mattresses is the one IndyBest shoppers love the most – its four supportive, breathable layers, compact delivery and suitability for those who sleep on their front, side or back make it a serious heavy hitter if you’re looking for a new one. However, there’s another best buy in town from Eve Sleep that’s proving to be serious competition – our full reviews will give you the lowdown on which is best for you.

Nilfisk C135 pressure washer: £220, Argos.co.uk

You won’t damage more delicate surfaces ( (Argos)

Prepping gardens for outdoor socialising was top of the agenda for March, with this pressure washer from Argos – our vote for best buy – selling fast throughout the month. Our reviewer applauds the variable fan jet nozzle and power speed nozzle, “both of which make anything from stonework and decking to patios come up like new”.

John Lewis & Partners the ultimate collection silk standard pillowcase: £45, Johnlewis.com

(John Lewis)

Not all silk pillowcases are created equal: this one from John Lewis truly is one of the best around, with more than 300 five-star reviews on the brand’s website. It’s the best buy in our silk pillowcase article, thanks to its minimalist design and ability to keep skin smooth and prevent frizzy hair each night. Yellow duck waterproof all-in-one: £36, Jojomamanbebe.co.uk

(Jojo Maman Bebe)

While we might be basking in some early spring sunshine at present, you can’t trust the great British weather, as the dozens of shoppers who invested in this puddle suit in advance of any upcoming April showers will know. “Aside from being an aesthetic win, this suit is a hard little worker, too,” our reviewer wrote in our list of the best. “It has two zips down the front to make for super easy dressing/undressing, has bonded seams and stirrups.”

Sloggi zero feel ultra bralette: £36, Johnlewis.com

(John Lewis)

Not ready to go back to the underwire life just yet? You’re not alone, as the popularity of this Sloggi bralette, awarded the best buy medal in our review of the most comfortable bras, proves. “The super-silky seamless material feels like almost nothing on the skin, or as little as physically possible while still actually having the support of a bra,” writes our tester. “We didn’t experience any irritation from the band, straps or stitching (there’s hardly any seams to bother you), and were particularly impressed with how little you could feel it around the arms— a frequent problem area for bras digging in.”

Pro Teeth Whitening Co. premium dental whitening strips: £20, Boots.com

(Boots)

“We were skeptical at first that any strips could noticeably whiten your teeth, but how wrong we were,” our reviewer admits of this £20 Boots buy. “A week in, our teeth looked whiter than they had in years, and the effects only improved over the second half of the 14 day treatment.” If you’re after a quick boost before post-lockdown socialising really ramps up, these will do the trick. No wonder more than 100 shoppers bought these from our article on the best teeth whitening kits this month.

Bloom & Wild the dried flowers: From £35, Bloomandwild.com

(The Independent )

You can always rely on Bloom & Wild’s bouquets to brighten up your space, and the trend for dried flowers in particular shows no signs of stopping. Our pick of the bunch? The brand’s relatively new range of dried flowers, which start from £35 and make a lovely gift, to self or otherwise. “Bloom & Wild is a florist we rave about because the delivery always matches – if not exceeds – the marketing photo,” our reviewer says. High praise indeed.

Love Cocoa giant prosecco Easter egg with pink gin truffles: Was £35, now £25, Lovecocoa.com

(Love Cocoa)

Even if it arrives after Easter, there’s still time to order and enjoy for this giant prosecco Egg with pink gin truffles – a veritable double whammy of boozy choc joy. One of the top picks in our guide to the best luxury Easter eggs, our reviewers loved how sweet and creamy the chocolate on this sizable egg was, and the fact that the shell is studded with popping candy, “which will take you right back to being a kid.” Unsurprisingly, it was the most purchased egg from our whole list this March.
