Animal Crossing update announcement

Nintendo has announced a new update for the hit Nintendo Switch game Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is set to arrive on 23 April 2020.

In a video posted on YouTube, several new features were confirmed, including new characters and seasonal events.

Leif, the sloth who first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, is set to return as a visitor, offering a market stall from which players can purchase flower seeds and bushes.

Bushes are a new addition to the game; until now, players have only been able to grow a variety of flowers and trees.

Jolly Redd (formerly known as Crazy Redd) will visit the island as a nautical merchant selling fine artwork. The island museum will also be upgraded to include an art section.

New in-game events have also been confirmed, including Nature Day – which will take place on the day of the update - and May Day.

Other events include International Museum Day and Wedding Season.

The update is the first major update to the game since its launch, roughly a month ago. New Horizons is currently the UK’s fastest-selling Switch game ever.
