New Assassin’s Creed game revealed over livestream, with fans deeming it ‘boring’ and ‘beautiful’

Early rumours had claimed that the new game will be set during the Viking era

Ubisoft has taken a unique approach to revealing the setting for the next game in the Assassin's Creed franchise.

Teaming up with movie poster artist Bosslogic, the games company announced the new game by way of a video livestream, in which viewers could watch the artist painstakingly draw a poster for the game on photoshop over a number of hours.

Early leaks had suggested that the game would be set during the era of Vikings, and would be called "Ragnarok".

After a while, people were convinced that the leaks were correct, as the artwork seemed to show British and Scandanavian landscapes, alongside soliders bearing early medieval armour.

However, while the artwork was undoubtedly impressive - and the stunt had tens of thousands of Assassin's Creed fans watching attentively - some viewers were unconvinced by the reveal, describing it as "boring".

"This Assassin's Creed reveal is a boring misstep," wrote one Twitter user.

Fans flooded the comments section with opinions on what they wanted the game to be, with many suggesting that the next entry should take the form of an RPG (Role-Playing Game).

But while some found the reveal - which lasted hours - too long, others couldn't get enough of Bosslogic's artwork.

"What a beautiful way to showcase both a talented artist and a reveal for a new Assassin's Creed game," said one fan.

"As a photoshop nerd, I am glued to this #AssassinsCreed reveal,' wrote another.

The Assassin's Creed franchise has sold over 140 million copies worldwide. The last entry in the main series was Assassin's Creed Odyssey in 2018.
