Easter Eggs appear in shops and supermarkets just one day after Christmas

Move over Santa Claus

Just hours after packing away the Santa Claus-themed chocolate and sweets, stores unloaded hundreds of boxes of Easter eggs, hot cross buns, and other Easter favourites. But is it too early?

With Christmas just barely behind us, the holiday retail calendar has already moved on to Easter - and many shoppers are not happy.

Prompting multiple outraged responses, shoppers have taken to Twitter to vent their frustrations over finding shops stocked with Easter eggs and other Easter relics on Boxing day.

People have uploaded multiple pictures of the Easter treats to Twitter, showing shelves stocked full of the egg shaped chocolates.

One person wrote, “Would you believe it? Easter eggs out on Boxing Day,” alongside a picture of the offending eggs.

Another user also uploaded a picture of their local store, writing, “OMG I went into the shop in the village to get some bread for today’s Boxing Day gathering and they had bloomin' Easter eggs out…”

While stores typically move quickly when it comes to unpacking holiday decor for the next holiday, this year it seems they may have gone too far - even prompting one person to sarcastically ask if the Easter eggs were a joke.

One person even used the appearance of Easter eggs so early in the year to explain the 'true meaning' of Boxing Day.

He wrote, “You know why they really call it Boxing day don’t you...Cos it is the day when all the supermarkets open their boxes full of Easter Eggs and stick them on the shelves!”

Hot cross buns were also under attack for appearing too early on store shelves. An Easter favourite, many felt they had no business being offered in December.
