Teenager Nicolette says she can't live off $1,000 a month on Dr Phil

A 15-year-old from Beverly Hills, California, claims she has been forced to live as a “peasant” after her mum cut her monthly allowance down to a mere $1,000 (£735).

Nicolette, a self-proclaimed “spoiled brat,” loves designer clothes and shopping on Rodeo Drive - and she has the closet to prove it.

But after her mum Nina realised she could no longer keep track of her daughter’s spending, with Nicolette sometimes spending $10,000 (£7,356) in a single month on her credit cards, Nina decided to put her daughter on a budget.

The $4,000 (£2,942) lower monthly allowance did not go over well with the teen, who appeared on Dr Phil with her mum and demanded an increase.

“My mum raised me with everything I’ve ever wanted, and she needs to continue. It’s the only life I’ve ever known,” the teen argued on the talk show, insisting that her mum raise her allowance to at least $2,500 (£1,839) a month, just to “cover my basic expenses.”

The teen told cameras she was raised with a driver, a nanny, and personal trainers, in addition to anything else she’s ever wanted, and she expects this lifestyle to continue.

Regarding the new allowance, she told Dr Phil: “I feel like a peasant. I can’t live like this anymore. I’m always out of money,” before revealing that she now has no money to buy shoes or clothes.

On the show, Nina admitted that she may have spoiled her daughter, revealing that Nicolette has had credit cards with no limits from a “very young age.”

The single mum told Dr Phil that she thinks she has always given in to her daughter as a way to make up for and lessen her guilt from working six days a week.

She then admitted to the talk show host that she doesn’t know how to get her “extravagant, spoiled, and bratty” daughter under control, as she gives in to avoid her daughter’s threats of making her life a “living hell.”

“I think I made her that way,” Nina emotionally shares, to which her daughter responded: “You raised me, you should have done better.”

According to Dr Phil, who disagreed that Nicolette needs a raise in allowance, Nina is at risk of compromising her daughter’s values by giving her whatever she wants.

Dr Phil also warned that this “overindulgence is a form of child abuse,” and what Nicolette needs from her mum is more love and less money.
