Ariana Grande revealed as new face of Givenchy

After a not-so-mysterious teaser clip, Givenchy has announced Ariana Grande as its new face.

The luxury French fashion house has revealed little else other than the fact the singer will front its autumn/winter 2019 campaign, which is set to debut in July.

For the big reveal, Givenchy posted a black-and-white clip of Grande flicking her signature ponytail and humming a note in the background.

The 25-year-old pop star has been styled after one of Givenchy’s original muses, Audrey Hepburn, for the clip. She wears a pearl-embellished headband and the label’s iconic black cross-back black dress as worn by Hepburn in the opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

It is with great excitement that the House of Givenchy reveals its new face - a strong, independent woman of refreshing character and style: the multi-talented Ariana Grande,” reads a statement from the brand posted on its website.

“A modern muse and the voice of a generation, Ariana has emerged as one of the most influential forces in pop culture today. A Grammy award-winning performer, songwriter and singer, she naturally embodies the spirit of the Givenchy woman with impertinence, generosity and a lightning wit — all cloaked in a touch of mystery.”

Grande added that she is “so proud” to be the new face of Givenchy.

“It is a House I have forever admired and to now be part of that family is such an honour.

“I love this clothing and the confidence and joy it brings to the people wearing it. Not only is the clothing timeless and beautiful but I’m proud to work with a brand that makes people feel celebrated for who they are, and unapologetic about whatever they want to be.”

Judging by social media, the singer’s fans are thrilled at the news, even though they saw it coming since Givenchy posted a teaser on Thursday which featured a “mysterious” black silhouette that was quite obviously Grande.

“We’re all so proud of you,” enthused one on Twitter.

So proud of you and excited that this opportunity has come your way,” added another. “No one could deserve it more. An absolute dream.”
